Melanie Higgins
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Born and raised in Arkansas, Melanie Higgins earned her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2015. During her nursing clinical rotations, she discovered her passion for mental health and knew she wanted to dedicate her career to helping others navigate life's challenges and improve their overall well-being.
Throughout her career, Melanie has gained experience in a variety of psychiatric settings, including inpatient psychiatric care for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults, community mental health, and inpatient and outpatient addiction treatment. While each setting
has shaped her approach to patient care, she has found her greatest fulfillment in private practice, where she can build meaningful, lasting relationships with her patients and support them through their challenges and successes.
Melanie treats a broad range of mental health conditions, including ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), substance use disorders, and personality disorders. She believes mental health treatment is never one-size-fits-all and that every individual deserves to feel heard, understood, and
respected. Her approach is rooted in compassion, empathy, and collaboration, creating a safe, welcoming, and nonjudgmental environment for patients of all backgrounds and beliefs.
Outside of work, Melanie enjoys spending time with her husband and their two boys, staying active, running, and reading.
