Alex Baker
Licensed Associate Counselor
Alex holds an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Before entering the counseling field, she spent many years as a professional recording artist and songwriter under the name Alex Edmonds. Her background in the music industry informs her understanding of the challenges that can arise when a person’s gifts and work become intertwined with identity, purpose, and self-worth.
Alex takes a person-centered, trauma-informed approach to counseling. Her heart is to create a space where people feel welcome, seen, heard, and safe. She also values mind-body work that supports nervous-system regulation and grounding. Alex welcomes clients across the lifespan, drawing from a range of therapeutic modalities tailored to each person’s unique needs. When appropriate, she incorporates expressive arts techniques to help clients explore emotions, experiences, and meaning.
Outside of counseling, Alex enjoys playing music with friends, crafting tea blends, and long walks in the garden. Along with her husband, Alex values simple, natural living. Together, they run City Farm, where they harvest and sell raw, local honey products. They spend much of their time tending to their growing homestead family of honeybees, Nigerian Dwarf goats, chickens, and a Great Pyrenees named Lyla Mae.
