“Talk to me about the truth of religion and I'll listen gladly. Talk to me about the duty of religion and I'll listen submissively. But don't come talking to me about the consolations of religion or I shall suspect that you don't understand.”

Meaning-Making Mornings: A Grief and Loss Group
Anyone who has experienced grief and loss knows its challenges...loneliness, confusion, anger, doubt. This eight-week group will help those struggling with grief and loss feel supported and encouraged by exploring the themes in C. S. Lewis's A Grief Observed. Each ninety minute session will explore a theme from the book and allow you to discuss your own experiences with grief. Sara Whisenhunt, LAC will also provide guidance for ensuring that your grief and loss journey is as healthy as possible. If you've felt isolated by your grief, wished you had a safe place to ask the complex questions that grief and loss force us to contend with, and want to feel hope for the future again, register below!

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is there a fee?
Our content will likely be intense and personal. My training as a Licensed Associate Counselor will ensure that this process is as safe and beneficial as possible for all who attend. It should be regarded as important, valuable time meant for those truly seeking depth. Financial investment provides “buy in” and ensures that only those who are serious about this process will attend. Confidentiality will be a VERY important part of this process, and requiring financial investment establishes intentionality.
What does the fee include?
An hour of therapy each week! My individual therapy rate at CPC is $85 per hour and you are essentially getting eight sessions with me, a Licensed Associate Counselor, for around the cost of two individual sessions. Remember, if you go ahead and pay for all eight sessions, I will provide your book! If not, we will keep a card on file and only charge $25 the Monday after each session. In this case, you’ll just need to be sure to order your book before the first session. Also provided by the fee is any material presented during sessions including weekly session outlines and other handouts.
Is this considered therapy?
Therapy comes in many forms or modalities, and Meaning Making Mornings is considered group therapy. The following article is a great explanation of the elements of group therapy and the potential benefits: https://www.verywellmind.com/what-is-group-therapy-2795760.
Is it confidential?
Although there is no way for me to guarantee that group therapy remains confidential, there are certain safe guards that we will take to protect your information.
- We will only use first names. All information you provide when signing up will remain private.
- Each member will sign a confidentiality agreement prior to the beginning of each group.
- This will be a “closed group,” meaning that no one is allowed to join the group once it has begun and only established
group members may attend.
Additionally, our door will be locked as of 10:00 am to ensure the privacy and safety of each group member.
Is childcare provided?
There will not be childcare.
Can I get a refund if I miss?
We understand that things may come up that prevent you from attending once you sign up. Because your spot cannot be replaced once the group begins, you will still be required to pay the $25 even though you may miss a session. If a major life event happens that prevents you from attending ANY of the sessions, we’ll try to work out something with you. Sometimes life is just crazy.
