Are CPC therapists licensed?
Yes. All therapists at CPC are licensed mental health professionals, including Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), Licensed Psychological Examiners (LPE-I), Licensed Psychologists, and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT). Our team also includes psychiatric providers who are Medical Doctors (MD) or psychiatric-specialized Advanced Practice Nurses (APRN). Credentials are listed on our Meet Our Team page at cpcarkansas.com.
CPC's clinicians hold not only their state licensure but also specialized certifications in areas such as Thanatology (grief and bereavement), EMDR, trauma-informed approaches, and Smart Stepfamily therapy. We are committed to ongoing training and staying current with the most effective, evidence-based treatments available.
Being a Christ-follower and being a fully licensed, highly trained professional are not in tension — at CPC, they are complementary. We bring both to every session.
Is what I share in counseling kept confidential?
Yes. Everything you share in counseling at CPC is kept strictly confidential under HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act). There are a small number of legally required exceptions — including imminent risk of harm to self or others, and mandated reporting of child or elder abuse — which your clinician will explain fully in your first session.
Confidentiality is foundational to the counseling relationship. You cannot do honest, deep work if you are worried about what you say leaving the room. Your privacy is something we take seriously and protect carefully.
If you are using insurance, your insurer will receive the minimum information legally required to process your claim — typically a diagnosis code and treatment type. No session notes or detailed clinical information are shared beyond what is required.

What is the difference between a therapist, counselor, and psychiatrist?
Therapists and counselors (LPC, LPE, Psychologists, LCSW, LMFT) provide talk therapy and behavioral interventions for the experiential struggle clients are experiencing. Psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners are medical providers who help clients by evaluating and prescribe medication to address the chemical aspect of clients' struggle. CPC offers both — licensed therapists for counseling and psychiatric providers for medication management — often working together on the same treatment.
Licensed Therapists and Counselors at CPC include Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC), Licensed Psychological Examiners (LPE-I), Licensed Psychologists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT). They work with you in regular sessions to help you process emotions, change behaviors, improve relationships, and address mental health concerns through conversation and evidence-based techniques.
Psychiatric Providers at CPC are medical professionals who evaluate your psychiatric needs, prescribe and monitor mental health medications, and work collaboratively with your therapist. CPC takes a multidisciplinary approach — meaning your therapist and psychiatry provider communicate and coordinate your care together.
Many clients at CPC work with both a therapist and a psychiatric provider simultaneously, which research shows produces the best outcomes for many conditions.
